Managing Non-Profit and Co-operative Housing since 1990
– Serving over 2000+ units
(APM) Affordable Property Management
Our Story
APM proudly manages more than 2,000 units of non-profit housing across multiple regions in Ontario. Our diverse portfolio includes apartment buildings, stacked townhomes, and traditional townhomes, with communities ranging in size from 14 to 205 units.
For more than 34 years, APM has been committed to ensuring the properties we manage are well maintained, financially sustainable, and safe for all residents. Our team brings extensive experience with funding programs, regulatory requirements, and the legislation governing non-profit housing in Ontario.
As many non-profit housing providers approach the End of Mortgage phase, APM is well positioned to support boards through this critical transition. Leveraging our deep knowledge of the sector and long-standing relationships with municipal service managers and regional partners, we help guide negotiations to secure ongoing operational funding and promote long-term stability.
As leaders in non-profit housing management, APM provides knowledgeable and professional property managers and administrators who combine technical expertise with a strong commitment to service. Our
team understands the importance of compassion, respect, and clear communication with residents, while upholding the high standards of building maintenance and governance expected by Boards of Directors.
APM remains dedicated to supporting the goals and values of the non-profit housing sector and to helping our clients build safe, inclusive, and sustainable communities.
Owner and President
Maureen Barrey
Maureen Barrey has over three decades of experience in affordable housing, healthcare, social services, and non-profit property management.
Beginning in the late 1980s as a Development Consultant, Maureen worked closely with Non-Profit and Cooperative Housing Corporations to secure funding and support the development of affordable housing communities throughout Ontario. Following changes to government funding programs in the early 1990s, she transitioned into property management services to continue supporting the affordable housing sector and the communities it serves.
Over the past 35 years, Maureen has successfully built and led Affordable Property Management (APM) alongside a highly experienced and dedicated team of Property Managers and Accounting professionals, many of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years. APM has earned a strong reputation for professionalism, integrity, operational excellence, and compassionate service.
Maureen is widely respected within the affordable housing industry for her knowledge, leadership, and commitment to education. She has served as an instructor for the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association (ONPHA), delivering training in Board Governance, Leadership, Property Management, and Building Maintenance. She has also been invited to speak at numerous housing and leadership conferences, including the Age Friendly Business Alliance conference.
As a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA), Maureen has helped position APM as an Age Friendly Business committed to treating older adults with dignity, compassion, and respect. All APM staff receive training focused on supporting seniors and fostering inclusive, respectful communities.
At APM, we believe successful property management is built on experience, accountability, communication, and strong relationships with Boards, residents, and communities.

I am a tenant at Kin Village and have been since 2008. Over the years, I have enjoyed living in the neighbourhood because it is peaceful and well-maintained. As a result, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate the hard-working team at Kin Village.
My recent interaction is what urged me to write this letter. I can hardly keep quiet. On Thursday (Dec.1st), I had some questions about my rental agreement and spoke to Kate, whom I found particularly helpful. She quickly answered my questions and referred me to Chris for further clarification. I met with Chris the next day and was genuinely impressed by her knowledge of the tenancy protocols. She advised me on how to proceed, and I instantly felt relieved.

Reno Renovations has been working with Affordable Property Management
Inc. (APM) for the past 15+ years. It has always been our pleasure to
work with the various Property Managers and Superintendents. They are
great people and work with their communities and tenants to ensure a
place of happiness and home. We look forward to the next 15+ years of
working with Maureen and her team! Congratulations on your 30 years of
business APM!”

Over the past number of years (20+) that APM has been our Management Company looking after our organisation Jack Goodlad Seniors Residences, we have been very satisfied with the level of service we have received. The APM team has worked very well with the Board of Directors, which includes working with the President, the Treasurer, and Committees, attending meetings to review the financial position, and working within the parameters of the Goodlad policies and procedures.
APM has also been very useful in bringing forward opportunities such as energy and audit rebates and incentives for upgrades to our building. They have worked successfully with the City of Toronto to make sure that Goodlad is able to take advantage of the social housing programs for improvement to our building. The staff works very hard to make sure all our needs are met and tasks are carried out in a swift and efficient manner. Overall, we are very pleased with the work carried out by the APM team in the past and to this present time and see no reason why this level of satisfaction would change in the future.
